DAHA (Duluth Amateur Hockey Association) Hank Jensen Financial Aide Fund -- We again gave $1,000 to this foundation to help traveling players offset some expenses while traveling during their peewee and bantams years. Our hope is to help some players continue playing without such a financial burden on their parents. We want to help those players who have the talent and desire to play the opportunity to play the game they love! YMCA Camp Miller -- We gave $1,000 to Camp Miller this year to give youth campers the opportunity to be introduced to music during their camp week. With the donation they purchased seven guitars, bags, tuners, picks, strings and chord lesson books. The guitars they purchased each have an engraved plaque, "Donated to YMCA Camp Miller in Memory of Chad Liebaert". We are very excited to give this donation knowing that some of the youth campers will have the chance to learn a little about music and guitar during their week. Hopefully some will go home with the inspiration of wanting music to be a part of their life. Duluth Heritage Sports Center -- $500 was given to purchase the five bricks that will be engraved and displayed in the lobby. They will tell our story "In Memory of Chad Liebaert, 12/12/79 - 3/24/07, West Duluth Goaltender". We look forward to seeing these bricks displayed, however, that project has not yet begun at the sports center. We are also in the process of donating $2,800 to purchase two benches and four high tables for the lobby area. There was a great need for this so we decided this would be a great way to help out. Each bench will have an engraved plaque saying "LIVE TO PLAY" in Memory of Chad Liebaert 1979-2007. The tables will have the same message printed on them with an acrylic overlay for protection. We originally planned on giving to the sports center foundation, but instead chose to make a donation that can be used by everyone visiting or playing at the sports center. We feel very honored to have Chad's passion for hockey known and remembered in the sports center. Ray of Hope Foundation -- We are donating $2,200 to this foundation and have been working with the founders, Lynn and Fawn Lowney. This foundation was developed to help teens who may be struggling to 'BELIEVE' in themselves. They offer these teens activities they have an interest in but otherwise would not have the opportunity to explore. With our donation they are setting up a "Chad Liebaert Music Scholarship Fund" which will be used to give teens a chance to possibly inspire an interest in music. This foundation functions on donations alone, so we are very happy to be able to offer our support. Lynn and Fawn grew up with Cara and Chad, so this is close to the heart for us. This foundation was set up in memory of their brother, Nathan Ray, who took his life at the age of 19. We would very much like to continue our support to this foundation.
