A Special Thanks

< Back

We would like to thank EVERYONE who attended and participated in the "LIVE TO PLAY" memorial concert on January 5th, 2008 at Mr.D's. This event was a labor of love from beginning to end.

A special thanks to the "Dream Team" who worked with so much enthusiasm putting the concert together. Jeremy Maida initiated the idea, contacted and organized all the musicians that performed at the concert. Dustin Desanto, Jim Watts, Nick Garramone, Micki Agar, Bjorn Werner, Matt Beal, Tonia Kangas, Chris Hallfrisch (all the way from Texas), and Chris Benson worked so very hard on planning, ideas, advertising, T-shirt sales, web page start-up and design, and every aspect it took to make this concert happen. The friends of Chad who came forward and volunteered to help work the doors that evening must be thanked also. We could not have done it without all of you!

Al Terwey of Mr. D's was fabulous to work with during all the planning it took for the concert to take place there. His staff was absolutely fantastic during the entire concert. They worked very, very hard and fast to keep up with all the people attending.

We especially need to thank all the musicians that donated their time and talent to make this concert a success: Two Many Banjos, Corwin & Scott, Somewhere But Who, Andy Elwell, Manheat, The DT's, The Keep Aways, and Beneficial Infliction. There were so many different types of music between all these bands; there was something for everyone! The spontaneous performances by Jason Kahler on guitar, Brian Maruska on drums, and a blast from the past by The Sellouts just added even more to the evening. It was very special that at least one member of each band knew Chad personally. What an awesome group of people so willing to give of themselves in this incredible tribute to Chad! He would have loved all this music; but of course, we know he was there in spirit playing right along with us!

Because of everyone's generosity, we are able to make contributions to Chad's passions in life: Hockey and Music. We will be making donations to: The Duluth Amateur Hockey Association's Hank Jensen Financial Fund to help families in need of supporting their child in hockey; The new Duluth Heritage Sports Center by purchasing bricks in Chad's Memory and also giving to their foundation for those needing financial support to play sports; the Duluth Boy & Girls club to help support their after school music program with instruments and music; and the Denfeld High School Music Department to help purchase music, and possibly purchase/repair instruments rented from the school.

To carry on Chad's spirit in this way is so very heartwarming. Chad would be humbled by this extraordinary celebration of his life!!

With all the thanks our hearts can give, The Family of Chad

P.S. Stay tuned for possible future events!
